About the Sanitary Tortilla Factory

The original premise and cornerstone of SCA began in 2008. The main goal was to support regional artists by providing exhibition space at no charge. Since that time we have presented over one hundred exhibitions in the Wells Park location. Historically collaborated with institutions such as the College of Fine Arts at UNM, 516 ARTS and the Albuquerque Museum of Art. In 2016,  SCA  moved to the newly renovated, historic Sanitary Tortilla Factory at 401 2nd Street SW. The current space has fifteen working artist studios, an 1100sf exhibition space and anticipates completion of a fabrication space by 2017. This is the first phase of a seven-year plan for the multi-faceted visual arts center. The final complex will feature at least twenty-artist studios, shared fabrication space, two exhibition spaces and future home of a sculpture based residency program.

Location Location

The Sanitary Tortilla Factory is located in a bustling section of downtown Albuquerque, NM. We share a block with great neighbors Zendo Coffee & Art and Sidetrack Brewery, so great coffee, beer and conversation are never far away.

Residency Program

The launch of the sculpture residency program is generously supported by the Fulcrum Fund in partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and The FUNd at Albuquerque Community Foundation.

Coming Soon: Botanical Mural project in collaboration with 516 ARTS, with new work from Pastel from Argentina.
